Where our pipes are

Last reviewed:
We work within a 13,000 square km (5,000 square miles) area, from parts of Gloucestershire in the west to areas of Kent and Essex in the east. A number of other water supply companies also provide drinking water in this area, but we are the only company responsible for wastewater services. We share borders with many other companies that provide water and/or wastewater services. The map below shows the areas we serve.

Free network information

In our improvement plan we committed to offering free access to our network information for WIRS-accredited self-lay providers. We hope this will help you quote for work, removing the need to visit our map room or pay for searches.

An Asset Location Search (ALS) provides information on the location of known Thames Water clean and/or wastewater assets, including pipe sizes, direction of flow and depth information.

You can request free network information by emailing developer.services@thameswater.co.uk with the subject line ‘Self-lay ALS request’.

Please include the following information:

  1. Your details (name, company and email address)
  2. Site details (address, postcode, Land Registry details if available, co-ordinates)
  3. An attached site plan with a clear view of the site boundary
  4. Supporting evidence that a new water connection is required (e.g. invitation to quote from the developer)

We’ll provide the network information to you within five working days. When you receive it, the cover letter will mention a charge being added to your supplies account – please ignore this, as we have covered all costs for you.

Please also note that cover and invert levels information will only be provided where the data is available.

This service is for water schemes only to help you in competing for work from developers, so other requests (e.g. for utilities checks) will not be accepted.
